a footbridge turned to a Chinese Calligraphy Gallery ...

Took these shots October last year, but when I revisited this little footbridge last week, the gallery was gone, vanished ... it was turned back to an ordinary dull footbridge.

it's the mood ...
that has made the difference, I guess. This is Centre Street, a pretty old street in HK. It's also a street I've been climbing up and down since I was a boy. However, I have always felt that it would be too busy and even messy for a decent photograph, until a recent Sunday afternoon when I was in a leisurely mood. Well, it's still messy and the sky was hazy (I also knew that there would be the typical F10's blown highlights), but somehow these didn't matter to me. I really liked the atmosphere ...

local stores ...
in my neighbourhood (Sai Ying Pun). I have a special affection for this kind of "traditional local stores" cause I always find them to be more 'human' than the modern giant chain supermarket. Really pleased to note that a number of them were doing fine in the fierce competition with their modern counterpart ...

"inner city problem" ...
Strictly speaking, this is not as bad as what an inner city problem would suggest - at least I could not notice any homeless, black market, drugs and so on. However, the aging and lack of management of these old and multi-owned buildings are obviously causing environmental and hygienic problems tough to tackle ...
