Maybe it's for dogs - most of them should be able to read now! (are they not treated almost as humans - at least in highly evolved "western" society).

Just speaking about dogs:

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a DOG ...
What a terrible day I had - working from 9:00am to 11:00pm;
but what a wonderful way to end the day - reading two such amusing comments before going to bed!
