the star ferry ...

Founded in 1888, the Star Ferry is not only the oldest but also the most efficient, relaxing and yet inexpensive mode of crossing the Victoria Harbour. To me, it's also an important link to the memories of the old days, especially when I was a schoolboy and doing funny things on the ferry with schoolmates everyday ...

Dear Hugo

Felt compelled to write and say how much I enjoy you pictures and your Blog. I grew up in Hong Kong during the 80s and your pictures are excellent at reminding me of my youth. These ones of the Star Ferry especially.

Earlier this year I managed to return to Hong Kong with my wife and show her all the places I’ve talked about for years. Luckily she loved the place too so I expect we will return in a few years. The first thing we did when we arrived in HK was take a tram to the Star Ferry pier and then cross the harbour.

I took loads of photo when I was over there and loved one of the Star Ferry so much that I now have it on a 3 foot canvas in my front room. You have inspired me to put some of my photos on my own Blog (http://mattzippyking.blogspot.com/).

Just wanted to say again that I think you pictures are fantastic and capture Hong Kong so accurately and beautifully. Not only do you have a fan in me but also my whole family regularly visit your Blog.

Thanks for posting

Dear Matthew,

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such warm comments. They have really made my hectic day much easier to get through ...

It's still a great surprise to me, what started off as a leisure time hobby (when I bought the F10 last year) has evolved into such a passion (obsession?). It's like a fire burning inside my heart!

A joy isn't a real joy if it can't be shared; I'm so glad that you enjoyed my pics ...

Look forward to seeing more of your photos on your Blog. :-)

All the best to you and yours,
Hugo
