evening fishing ...
After a day's busy work, how lovely it was to come across such a beautiful scene - leisurely mood, relaxing atmosphere, evening lights and soft clouds ...

"no time for a glance?"
This was a handheld shot I took when I was waiting for my wife to finish her shopping one Saturday evening. Perhaps "this would work better with slightly more or slightly less movement". Unfortunately, I was using the fully automatic F10 with no control over shutter speed or aperture ...

going home ...
and so was I, after finishing this shot ... A scene of Gloucester Road at 7:00 p.m. when everybody was squeezing through it to get out of the business district as soon as possible.

"walking into" another sunset ...
Loved the previous sunset photos so much that I couldn't resist revisiting the waterfront several days later and I found this interesting image ... It's just wonderful to walk into a nice sunset after a day of hard work!

the sun sets ...
and night falls everyday but just don't always have the opportunity, or should I say the right time, right place and right mood, to enjoy watching it ... Took these shots one summer evening last year along the Wanchal Waterfront. Enjoyed that hour very much and I didn't have any thought of leaving until the sky turned completely dark.

two ifc & legislative council building ...
... are two remarkable architectural achievements in Hong Kong - the first is a gorgeous modern building while the latter is an invaluable conservation of a heritage. Since both of them are located in Central, I kept thinking if there would be an angle that these two of my favourite buildings could be combined in ONE photo. Pleased that I did find the answer.

lotus pond revisited ...
Though I said I'm not a big fan of flora photography, I couldn't resist revisiting the Lotus Pond of the HK University when I had the chance. Glad I did cause this is certainly a beauty!

eye-catching eyes ...
I knew I'd sooner or later get rewarded for carrying the F10 with me everyday everywhere ... an interesting scene I spotted on my way to attend a meeting in Central; it turned out to be one of my favourite street photos.

a respectable old man ...
Not too far from the spot I met the three respectable old ladies, I encountered this 82-year-old tailor. We had a brief yet very enjoyable chat. As he talked, he disclosed how delighted and proud he had been to live on his own, how he had stood every bad weather to work 6 days a week, how he had been repairing his antique sewing maching ... He also illustrated keen eyes and steady hands which made me feel ashamed.

three respectable old ladies ...
I was lucky to have met these respectable old ladies one saturday afternoon ... Despite their age, they worked hard on their own, demanding little from the government. Despite their age, they were in pretty good shape - w3 (a good friend I knew on the FTF) attributed their good health to their climbing those slopes and steps everyday. By the way, they're also friendly enough to let me take the photo, which is certainly one of my favourites.

fruits at supermarket ...

I've overcome my "market-phobia" after having fun in shooting the Wanchai Market. So, when I heard my wife going to the supermarket to do some shopping the other day, I was just pleased to accompany her ... It was a large supermarket (called superstore in Hong Kong) displaying a world of brightness and colorfulness. In the end, I was still mostly attracted by the fresh fruits. It was pretty enjoyable throughout the evening except that I had to finish shooting rather quickly and do some genuie shopping, because I had been receiving warning eye-signals from the staff there.

a beautiful sunset ...
I've seen so many spectacular sunset photos from others, but this is the first time I've captured a good one myself. This isn't bad at all, I guess, considering that it was taken in a city of "concrete jungle"!

some more clouds ...

As said earlier, I was also picking up the joy of watching clouds when I picked up photography. So, how would I let such a spectacular cloud escape when I spotted it ...

wanchai market part II ...
Some members of the forum felt that photographing the market wasn't quite complete without some food shots. I revisited the Wanchai Market to take these pics which I find pretty interesting.

wanchai market ...

In my mind, the Wanchai Market was always stuffy, wet, and crowded, but the journey this time was much more enjoyable as I had brought my camera with me.

raining again ...
Thanks to the continuous bad weather this summer, I got a lot of opportunity to practise this 'rain on window' technique! :-)

Heritage of uncertain fate ...
This is the Central Police Station, one of the oldest heritage structures in Hong Kong with rich Victorian, Edwardian and Oriental architectural style. Upon consolidating the police force into a grand multi-billion modern building, the Central Police Station was vacated in 2004. The Government once planned to dispose of the site to private developers (probably out of financial considerations); this was of course strongly opposed by architects and conservation bodies. The Government was forced to consult the public again. Up to now, it's still uncertain if it will be a commercial interest based redevelopment or heritage conservation project. I decided to take at least some photos of this monument while it was still standing there.

watching clouds ...
... is probably something we all had fun doing when we were small children. Clouds vary in shape, colour, and location much faster than we expect. No two clouds look alike; no two minute the same cloud looks the same. Watching them is joyful and absolutely free! Can't remember when I started to be indifferent to them and chasing after all sorts of expensive entertainments.
Picking up photography, I'm picking up the joy of watching clouds again at the same time.

adorable ...
Though I have not been a big fan of flora photography, this is certainly one of the pics I love best! Watching this pic brings back the wonderful memories of enjoying a gorgeous sunday with my family. There were also some interesting discussions on the Forum whether this should be called a water lily or a lotus ...

"See you ..."
We had plenty of showers and thunderstorms this summer, and the rain never seemed to be going to stop. So, when it abruptly came to a halt one afternoon, without considering whether it was merely an “interval bright period”, I rushed to the Wanchai Ferry Pier to take some outdoor shots.

Just another one from the beautiful summer night.

a beautiful summer night - entertainment building ...
It's sometimes rewarding to take some unusual angle. Looked up to find this as I was having a stroll with my family after dinner in Central in a beautiful summer night.
